Care Instructions for Stainless Steel
Dear customer,
Unfortunately, there is often confusion when it comes to the term "stainless steel." Terms like stainless steel, V2A, V4A, chrome, Niro, etc., are often used interchangeably. There is a common belief that stainless steel is inherently non-magnetic and cannot rust. However, this statement is not always true, as various alloys are used in the production process.
Despite the high-quality material selection, COBRA's stainless steel products are not immune to existing environmental influences. Even with the utmost care, it is unavoidable that, for example, the weld seams on bull bars are particularly vulnerable to external damage due to the high surface tension of the material in these areas.
Even normal environmental influences (e.g., metal particles from exhaust or brakes) can cause contamination and surface changes. Especially in industrial areas or near the sea, deposits may occur that attack the material (rust formation).
To ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your stainless steel parts, regular cleaning (with water, car shampoo, and polish) is required to remove dirt and deposits and prevent surface damage.
We recommend regular care with a stainless steel polish. Experience shows that very good results are achieved in terms of cleaning and protection when using such a polish.
For chrome-plated surfaces, never use steel wool, steel brushes, or similar cleaning tools, as these can damage the protective chrome surface and allow foreign rust to form. In case of proven insufficient care, warranty claims are excluded!
Due to storage before shipping, small spots may appear on the surface of the products. This does not affect the quality.
These spots (which may resemble stains) can be permanently removed with chrome polish (e.g., Sonax 308000 Chrome Polish 75 ml) in just a few minutes. The use of such a polish is generally recommended after initial installation for protection and maintenance.
We wish you long-lasting enjoyment of your stainless steel parts!
